1 million people left their homes in 5 months in Somalia

Mohammad Abdi, Somali Director of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), pointed out that internal migration in Somalia has risen to an alarming level.

Stating that 1 million people had to leave their homes and migrate in the last 5 months, Abdi emphasized that they were worried that this might increase in the coming months.

Abdi noted that in addition to the security problems caused by the al-Shabab terrorist organization, natural disasters such as drought and flood were also effective in internal migration in the country.

Sharing the information that the regions with the highest immigration rate are Hiran in the middle of the country and Gedo in the south, Abdi added that the number of internal migration in the country has exceeded 3.8 million.
