Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer Yazid Abubakar said in a statement that after the intelligence reports received by the police, operations were carried out against armed gang members in the state’s Gusami Forest.
Abubakar stated that 10 people taken hostage by armed gang members were rescued in the operation.
Explaining that the rescued people were held hostage for about 10 days, Abubakar said that these people were sent to the hospital for control.
Zamfara province has been facing attacks by armed gang members for 5 years. The state government had announced that armed gang members caught due to the increasing security problems in the state would be tried by death penalty.
