15 people died during preparations for “Wednesday Suri” in Iran

According to the Iranian official news agency IRNA, Head of Iran Emergency Center Cafer Miadfer announced that 15 people have died since the beginning of the month in the accidents that took place in the cities of Tabriz, Tehran, Hamadan, Urmia and Qazvin during the preparations for the “Wednesday Suri” celebrations to be held on the last Wednesday night of the year. .

Noting that 353 people were injured in the accidents, Miadfer stated that 6 of the 49 people who were hospitalized were taken to intensive care.

Noting that 51 people lost their limbs in the accidents, 130 people got burns on their bodies and 86 people were injured in their eyes, the Iranian official said that the most loss of life was recorded in the capital Tehran.

In the celebrations held on the last Wednesday night of the year before the New Year (Nowruz) in Iran, especially children and young people jump over the fires and set fireworks and sparklers on fire. These celebrations and the preparations before them cause dozens of deaths and hundreds of injuries in Iran every year.

Nowruz begins on March 21 in Iran, where the Hijri Shamsi calendar is used.
