Ondo Police Spokesperson Funmi Odunlami stated that after the raid on a passenger bus in the province, operations were carried out against gunmen in the region.
Stating that 18 passengers abducted by gunmen were rescued during the operations, Odunlami said that these people were reunited with their families.
Odunlami shared the information that 3 armed people were detained during the operations.
Gunmen kidnapped 18 people in a raid on a passenger bus that set off from Ondo state to go to the capital, Abuja, on 7 June.
Kidnapping is punishable by the death penalty in Nigeria, yet kidnappings for ransom are common.
