2 dead as fishing boat sinks in northern Spain

Miguel Angel Revilla, head of the Cantabria self-government government, announced on his social media account that the fishing boat “Villaboa 1” with a crew of 10 sank off the Cape Mayor.

“A new misfortune at sea. At 05:30 this morning, the Santander-based ship Villaboa 1 sank off Cape Mayor.” Revilla, using the expression, stated that 7 fishermen were rescued, the bodies of 2 of them were reached and 1 person was missing.

In the northern part of Spain, in Galicia and Cantabria, where fishing is an important source of livelihood, nearly 50 fishermen lost their lives in the last 15 years as a result of their boats sinking due to unfavorable sea conditions.
