According to a statement from the Louisville Police Department, shots were fired into the crowd at Chickasaw Park at around 9 PM on Saturday night.
As a result of the attack, 2 people were killed and 4 injured.
While no explanation has yet been made about how many people carried out the attack, it was stated that the condition of one of the injured was serious.
Paul Humphrey, Deputy Chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department, noted that hundreds of people were in the park at the time of the attack.
Mayor Craig Greenberg, recalling the armed attack on a bank in the city on April 10, said, “This has been a week of indescribable tragedy for our city. This is not our city. This is not us.”
5 people died and 8 people were injured, two of them police officers, in the armed attack that took place in the financial institution named Old National Bank in Lousville on April 10. The 23-year-old attacker, Connor Sturgeon, was found dead in a shootout with the police.
