30 percent of flights were requested to be canceled due to the strikes to be held on March 7 in France

In the post made on the Twitter account of the French General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC), on 6-9 March, airports in Beauvais, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Nantes, Marseille, Montpellier, Nice and Toulouse, as well as CDG and Orly in the capital, Paris. It was stated that there will be disruptions in flight traffic.

In the post, it was warned that flights could be delayed at these airports on the said dates, and passengers were advised to postpone their travel if possible.

According to the news based on the statement made by DGAC in the local press, 20 percent of the flights at Paris CDG airport and 30 percent of those at other airports were requested to be cancelled.

On the other hand, the unions in the country called for a halt to life with mass strikes, demonstrations and marches planned to be held across the country on March 7 against the controversial pension reform.

Intelligence sources predict that between 1.1 and 1.4 million people will participate in the protests within the scope of the strike to be held across the country, and between 60,000 and 90,000 people in the demonstrations in Paris.

According to the unions, 300,000 people and 37 thousand people according to the police participated in the protests held on February 16 against the controversial pension reform in Paris.


Controversial pension reform

French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne announced on January 10 that the pension reform, which was among the election promises of President Emmanuel Macron, would be implemented.

Stating that in the country where the retirement age is 62, the legal retirement age will be gradually increased by 3 months every year and will be increased to 64 in 2030, starting from September 1, Borne said that in 2027, a 43-year premium payment requirement will be introduced in order to receive the full pension.

There have been multiple strikes and protests across the country since 19 January against the controversial reform.
