According to the data of the National Seismological Center of Iran, the 5.3 magnitude earthquake, the epicenter of which was in the city of Khoy near the Turkish border, was recorded at 15:17 local time. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 16 kilometers.
According to the news reflected in the Iranian media, the shaking was also felt in the cities of Urmia and Tabriz.
Hamid Mahbubi, West Azerbaijan General Manager of the Iranian Red Crescent, stated that the teams were sent to the city of Khoy after the earthquake and that a statement about possible loss of life or property would be made later.
On January 28, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 occurred in the city of Hoy in the northwest of the country. It was announced that 3 people died and 1167 people were injured in the earthquake.
