According to national media reports, 21 people were injured and 126 buildings collapsed in the earthquake, the epicenter of which was in the Pingyuen district of Dicou city in the east of the province.
While the State Council and the Ministry of Emergency Management declared a level 4 alarm situation after the earthquake, teams were sent to the region for search and rescue and aid works.
Train services from Beijing and Tianjin cities and neighboring Hibey province were canceled due to the earthquake.
Authorities reported that there was no damage to transportation, communication and electricity infrastructures in the earthquake, and no leaks were found in oil and natural gas pipelines.
