The new survey conducted by CNN revealed negative opinions about Biden’s age, his performance in office and where the country is.
While 73 percent of respondents said they thought Biden’s age affected his current level of physical and mental ability, 76 percent said they were significantly concerned it would negatively impact his ability to serve another term if re-elected.
While 60 percent of Democrats surveyed pointed out that Biden’s age will have a potential impact on the 2024 presidential election, 61 percent expressed serious concerns about his ability to serve another term as president if re-elected.
If re-elected, Biden will be 82 years old in January 2025, when he will be sworn in for his second term.
Approval of Biden’s performance in office dropped to 39 percent
In addition to President Biden’s age, the survey also evaluated his popularity, job approval and performance in office.
Among respondents, approval of Biden’s performance in office scored 39 percent, while the proportion of those who believe his policies have worsened economic conditions has increased by 8 points since last fall, to 58 percent.
While 70 percent of the participants argued that things were going bad in the country and that this situation was permanent for most of Biden’s time in office, 51 percent stated that the government should do more to solve the country’s problems.
As for personal perceptions of Biden, 58 percent of respondents said they had a negative impression of him, while only 33 percent described him as someone they were proud to see as president.
In the latest survey, the confidence that Biden inspires in the public decreased by 7 points compared to March, to 28 percent, while the opinion that he has the stamina and sharpness to serve effectively as president decreased by 6 points compared to March, to 26 percent.
A total of 1,503 adults, 1,259 of whom were registered voters, participated in the survey conducted between August 25-31.
