Evacuations in settlements continue
Evacuations from settlements continue due to the fire on Mount Parnita, about 50 kilometers north of Athens.
The flames in Alexandroupoli are also being tried to be brought under control. Firefighters from Bulgaria, Czechia, Albania and Romania are supporting the work.
Truck drivers face death
Two truck drivers trying to go from Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia, to Thessaloniki have died. Their vehicles were completely burned.
The injured truck driver said that he received treatment for 2 days in the Komotini hospital.
Biggest fire in the last 20 years

Greek authorities announced that 350 fires were intervened on different fronts in 5 days. It was reported that this was the largest forest fire recorded in recent years on European soil, which Greece has faced in the last 20 years.
Arson suspected in fires in Greece
Many residential units were evacuated in the fires, dozens of buildings were burned.
More than 720 thousand acres of forest, agricultural land and settlements were turned into ashes. Smoke from the fire in Greece reached as far as Italy’s Sicily Island and Malta.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against 73 of the 140 people detained on suspicion of arson.
