In addition to Bulut, many guests attended the reception hosted by Güneş Yeşildağ, the First Undersecretary of the Embassy, at the residence of the Turkish Embassy in London.
Speaking at the reception, Yeşildağ said that Bulut’s works and works are exhibited in different countries of the world.
Yeşildağ stated that she was impressed by the Open Work and said, “The work surrounds you and reaches your emotions by wrapping around your perceptions.”
In his speech, Bulut gave details about the work and stated that the art lovers who visit Açık Yapıt are also a part of the installation.
“When you touch surfaces, the surface responds to us”
Noting that Açık Artwork is a moving and vocal work, Bulut said, “When you touch the surfaces, the surface responds to us. Meanwhile, there are different people in the installation and they are also interacting with the surface.”
Describing his work as a stage rather than a sculpture or a place, Bulut said, “It invites us beyond perception.”
Bulut’s work represented Turkey at the London Design Biennial, where the works of more than 40 artists from various countries were exhibited. Celaleddin Çelik was the acoustic and architectural consultant of Açık Yapıt.
The project, which also includes civil engineers Mehmet Selim Ökten and Erdem Kazım Demirkıran, and Emrah Bural and Asude Nur Sancaktutan, won the first prize in the public voting in which more than 40 works competed.
