In a written statement, the head of the Suez Canal Administration, Osama Rabi, stated that a Hong Kong-flagged tanker named “Chinagas Legend” collided with a tugboat belonging to the canal administration at the 51st kilometer of the El-Belah region.
Rabi noted that the tugboat sank after colliding with the tanker coming from Singapore and en route to the USA.
The head of the Suez Canal Administration stated that the tugboat was working to bring it to the surface with the help of a crane and that the sea rescue teams were sent to the region to save the 7-person crew.
Rabi also stated that the tanker, which is 230 meters long, 36 meters wide and has a carrying capacity of 52 thousand tons, is kept in Port Said Port for the procedures related to the accident.
