Speaking to the RIA, an air transport official said that his ministry’s request was granted and that this is an important opportunity for airlines to contribute to the military.
Reservations for the summer season for Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine will be canceled 12 hours before the flight.
It was stated that the increasing demand for plane tickets was effective in the new regulation request of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Ministry officials, who stated that soldiers in Ukraine could not make flight reservations months or weeks in advance, therefore requested automatic reservations from airline companies for soldiers.
Airlines asked the ministry for information on flight routes and flight numbers requested. However, some airlines are reportedly worried about losing revenue if soldiers miss a flight.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in February that all soldiers fighting in Ukraine would be given regular leave. It was announced that the permits were issued for 14 days in every 6 months, excluding the travel period.
