The US and European countries have banned the China-based video sharing platform Tiktok for fear of cyber espionage.
France, on the other hand, took this ban a step further.
Officials are prohibited from downloading not only Tiktok, but also all social media, movie and video sharing sites and game sites to their work phones.
The ban list also includes movie sites such as Netflix, social media sites such as Instagram, and gaming sites such as Candy Crash.
President Emanuel Macron will not be able to load these sites on his work phone as part of the ban.
Authorities announced that limited exemptions can be provided to some institutions for business reasons.
