Armenia buys howitzer from India

According to the news of Armenia’s official news agency Armenpress, based on the Indian Defense Research Wing, Armenia has ordered a 155 millimeter/39 MARG self-propelled howitzer from India, developed by Kalyani Strategic Systems.

Kalyani Group officials announced that the howitzer system was developed by the Indian company in 8 months and tested in Balasor and Pokran in India.

It was noted that after the 40-day trial of the aforementioned howitzer system with the Armenian authorities, it was determined that it complied with the standards of the Armenian Armed Forces, and an agreement was signed.

It was stated that howitzers were designed especially for use in mountainous regions.

Armenia ordered an estimated $245 million worth of heavy weapons from India in September 2022.

The order in question consists of domestic Pinaka multi-barreled rocket launchers, anti-tank rockets and ammunition, which are also used in the Indian army.
