Assassination of the provincial governor in the Philippines – Breaking News

Roel Degamo, 56, who was elected governor after the second vote count in the recently completed governorship elections of the central province of the Philippines, Negros Oriental, was attacked by unidentified people while meeting with the public in the garden of his house.

In the footage reflected on the security camera, it was seen that uniformed and armed persons entering the garden of Governor Degamo’s house opened fire on those in the garden and then fled the scene.

10 suspects wanted

State police spokesman Kym Lopez said in a statement about the incident that arrest warrants were issued for 10 unidentified suspects related to the attack.

Lopez stated that 2 vehicles used by the perpetrators while fleeing the scene were found in an area close to the crime scene, but the perpetrators are still being sought.

‘Surrender now will be your best option’

Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos described the attack as “assassination” in a statement on his social media account.

Emphasizing that the suspects will be brought to justice as soon as possible, Marcos said, “My government will not rest until I bring the perpetrators of this heinous and heinous crime to justice.”

“To surrender now will be your best option,” Marcos called on the perpetrators of the attack.

On the other hand, Degamo was elected governor as a result of the vote counting held for the second time after last month’s tense vote in the region.
