The investment, announced in this month’s Defense Command Certification Renewal (DCP23), aims to support UK defense objectives and ensure it maintains a leading position in military capabilities.
According to The Messenger, the budget will spend roughly $11.8 billion on developing new military technology.
To become a scientific and technological powerhouse, the MoD plans to focus on different areas including robots, human development, directed energy weapons and new materials.
The latest technologies will be used to strengthen the UK’s defenses against emerging threats under the plan.
The MoD will spend $4.1 billion on new weapons to replace those supplied to Ukraine last year.
UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace stressed that the military needs to be modernized and adapted to meet new challenges.
He said the investment aims to ensure that the UK continues to lead in key technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum and robotics, which have demonstrated their importance on the Ukrainian battlefields.
