In the statement made by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Supreme Election Board, it was announced that the deadline for determining the parliamentary candidates for the by-election, which is planned to be held on 25 June, will end on 29 May, and the applications for parliamentary candidacy will end on 31 May.
In the statement, it was stated that the propaganda process for parties and independent candidates will end on June 24.
In the TRNC, where there are approximately 210 thousand registered voters, the by-election will be held for a Nicosia deputy due to the resignation of Kudret Özersay, Chairman of the People’s Party.
In the TRNC, the National Unity Party (UBP), which forms the government in the 50-seat Republican Assembly, has 24 deputies, the Democrat Party (DP) has 3 and the Rebirth Party has 2 deputies. The main opposition Republican Turkish Party (CTP) is represented by 18 deputies and the opposition People’s Party is represented by 2 deputies.
