Kadyrov has ruled Chechnya since 2007. A staunch ally of Putin, and Kadyrov at times supported Prigojin’s hawkish stance on the battle.
Recently, however, he distanced himself from Prigojin’s criticisms of the command.
“I appeal to the fighters, the patriots of the Fatherland. Do not succumb to provocations,” said Kadyrov.
“Whatever goals and promises are made to you, the security of our state and the harmony of Russian society are the most important things at the moment,” Kadyrov said in his statement on Telegram.
Kadyrov also stated that Chechen fighters and national guards from the Ministry of Defense were sent to “tension areas”.
“The uprising must be destroyed and if these drastic measures are required, we are ready,” Kadyrov said.
