Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning announced at the regular press conference in Beijing that from now on, passengers will not be required to have a PCR test beforehand, and airline companies will not check the test results.
On January 8, China stopped treating COVID-19 as a “category A epidemic”, lifted the measures and restrictions imposed under the Border Health and Quarantine Law, and reopened its borders.
While the mandatory quarantine applied to passengers arriving from abroad was lifted, the obligation to report the negative result of the PCR test performed 48 hours before the flight continued.
In the new application, passengers are advised to check their health by taking an antigen test only 48 hours before their travel.
