Cops who can’t lose weight in India will be expelled

Assam Police Chief Gyanendra Pratap Singh stated that starting from August, the body mass index (BMI) of the police will be calculated.

Accordingly, civil servants who fall into the “obese” category will be given time until November, and those who fail to lose weight will be dismissed.

Stating that policemen with certain health problems will be exempted from this application, Singh also stated that he will be the first person to provide BMI measurements.

Assamese Prime Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also stated in his statement on April 30 that about 300 police officers serving in the province would be asked to retire on the grounds that “their physical condition is not suitable and they consume too much alcohol”.

In the state of Karnataka, the police force announced that officers who did not lose weight by adopting a similar practice in 2018 would be dismissed from duty.

An official from the agency stated that the decision was taken after some police officers lost their lives due to heart problems and diabetes due to lifestyle at that time.
