National Security Forces Spokesperson Husameddin al-Jababli issued a written statement on the subject.
Cebabli said, “The Navy teams in Mahdiye (east of the country) rescued 11 people while reaching the bodies of 8 people who attempted irregular migration to Italy last night and lost their lives as a result of their boat sinking.”
Stating that a fishing boat found the bodies of 19 irregular migrants 36 miles off the Tunisian coast, Cebabli announced that two fishing boats also found the bodies of two irregular migrants.
Cebabli, who did not provide information about when the boats sank, stated that all of the people whose dead bodies were found were people from Sub-Saharan African countries.
