In the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, “Russia, in response to Germany’s hostile actions, took a ‘mirror’ decision to expel German diplomats from Russia and significantly restrict the maximum number of staff of German diplomatic missions in our country.
The decision was reported to the German Ambassador to Moscow, G. von Geyr, who was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 5, 2023.
Recalling that the German government took the decision to expel many diplomats working in Russia’s diplomatic missions in Germany, the statement said, “We strongly condemn these actions of Berlin, which continue to defiantly destroy the entire structure of Russian-German relations, including its diplomatic dimension.”
Focus magazine reported on March 25 that Germany was preparing to expel 30 Russian diplomats who were allegedly busy collecting informants.
