The Twitter account of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs included the words of Foreign Minister Lars Lökke Rasmussen, “Denmark condemns the burning of the Holy Quran”.
In the post, Minister Rasmussen said, “These provocative and shameful actions do not reflect the view of the Danish government. I urge everyone to reduce tensions. Violence should never be the answer.”
Members of the anti-Islamic and ultra-nationalist “Danske Patrioter (Danish Patriots)” marginal group in Denmark burned the Koran today in front of the Iranian and then Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen.
The group, which burned the Qur’an in front of the Iraqi Embassy in Copenhagen on July 22, had previously insulted Islam by attacking the Turkish flag and the Qur’an in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen.
Denmark declared on July 22 that it condemned the burning of the Holy Quran.
