EU: Russia should not use so-called drone attack as an excuse to escalate the war

Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) Foreign Relations and Security Policy, made a statement regarding the news that Ukraine attempted to attack Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Kremlin by a drone before the meeting of the development ministers of the EU countries.

Stating that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy clearly stated that his country was not related to these attacks, Borrell said that Ukraine defended itself against Russia and did not attack Russian territory.

Borrell said:

“We urge Russia not to use this so-called attack as an excuse to escalate the war. What worries us is that it could be used to justify the conscription of more people, the deployment of more troops, more attacks on Ukraine.”

The EU High Representative stressed that the EU will continue to support Ukraine.
