According to the BBC’s report, the temperatures reached 53.9 degrees in California, 47.2 degrees in Las Vegas, 43 degrees in Arizona and 38 degrees in Texas.
The National Weather Service (NWS) described the heatwave in the southwestern United States as “one of the most severe weather events ever.” The NWS reported that the temperature will increase in other southern states of the USA as well.
While the authorities stated that the heat will continue to affect more than 110 million people, 38 cities are expected to break temperature records.
In the states of California and Nevada, some public buildings were opened to those who wanted to be protected from the heat, while homeless people applied to mobile clinics.
The White House called for preparedness and staying safe, conveying that the heat wave across the United States affected millions of people.
