In a written statement made by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that the official authorities determined that different Russian actors were conducting a disinformation campaign against France.
In the statement, it was stated that Russian or Russian-speaking people and Russian companies are among these actors, and that Russian state institutions or their affiliated institutions also participated in this campaign by spreading false information about France.
It was emphasized that the disinformation campaign in question was carried out by creating “fake” websites by imitating the websites of the French media and government institutions, as well as fake social media accounts.
In the statement, it was pointed out that the competent French authorities took the necessary precautions and protective measures with the determination of the situation, and that there was such an attempt targeting the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.
In the statement, which was stated to include corporate social media accounts of Russia’s embassies and Russian cultural centers, this campaign was evaluated as a new example of Russia’s “hybrid strategy” aimed at harming French institutions.
In the statement, which stated that France condemned Russia for this attitude, it was noted that the French authorities were working with their partners to defeat the “hybrid war” waged by Russia.
