Macron was welcomed at the capital Libreville airport by the President of Gabon, Ali Bongo Ondimba.
Macron is expected to attend the “ONE Forest Summit” on the protection of tropical forests, jointly organized by France and Gabon, in the capital Libreville, tomorrow.
France wants to renew relations with the African continent
In a statement before his visit to Gabon, Angola, the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Macron announced his country’s new African policy.
Stating that they want to open a new page with African countries, Macron said that they have started work for the return of cultural assets belonging to Africans.
Macron added that France would reduce the number of military bases on the continent.
