According to the report prepared by the Greek Meteorology Department based on the data of the Copernicus Emergency Management Department of the European Union (EU), the burned forest area in the Alexandroupoli and Evros Region has exceeded 720 thousand decares in the period until 23 August.
A total of 4 million 200 thousand decares of land burned in the 16 biggest fires in the last 20 years in Greece. The fire, which covered the largest area among them, was in Alexandroupoli and Meriç with 720 thousand acres.
