Hollywood’s iconic suit sells for $260,000 at auction

In the 1977 dance drama Travolta played Tony Manero, a young Italian-American from Brooklyn who tries to escape the realities of his life by dancing at the local disco.

The hit movie helped popularize disco music around the world, and Travolta was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for his brilliant performance.

According to the auction organizers, the polyester suit Travolta wore during the film’s famous dance competition scene is one of two suits used in the making of the film.

The jacket features stitched exaggerated pointed collars and two oversized pockets.

The listing described the costume as “one of the most iconic costumes in cinema history” and explained that it came with letters from Paramount Studios and Travolta himself stating it was original.

Michael J. Fox’s hoverboard from 1989’s “Back to the Future 2” sold for $91,000 at auction.

A wand used in the Harry Potter movie was bought for 130,000 dollars.
