According to the statement made by the Presidency of Azerbaijan, Oktay conveyed the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Aliyev. Aliyev also thanked Oktay and asked him to convey his greetings to Erdogan.
Emphasizing that the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan are extremely pleasing, Oktay noted that the relations develop on the basis of the principle of “one nation, two states”.
Emphasizing the importance of further development of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, which were officially brought to the level of alliance with the Shusha Declaration, in line with the aims and objectives of this document, Oktay expressed his gratitude for the support and solidarity of the Azerbaijani people and state after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.
Stating that they are pleased with the expansion of economic relations between the two countries, Oktay spoke with appreciation for the efforts of both countries to expand cooperation within the scope of the Organization of Turkish States (TDT).
Reminding that a monument was built to the terrorist organization Nemesis, which murdered Turkish and Azerbaijani diplomats and state officials in Armenia, Oktay stated that Turkey is seriously disturbed by this situation.
Aliyev also touched upon the importance of President Erdogan’s visit to Azerbaijan after his re-election.
Pointing out that cooperation within the scope of TDT should also be developed at the level of parliaments, Aliyev emphasized that it is important to further expand the cooperation of the foreign relations commissions of the parliaments of the TDT member countries.
Aliyev also noted that it is unacceptable to build a monument to Nemesis in Armenia.
During the meeting, views were exchanged on cooperation in the Middle Corridor, energy and trade.
“Azerbaijan’s security is our security”
Oktay made evaluations after meeting with Aliyev.
Noting that they visited Azerbaijan in order to further the relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan at the parliamentary level, Oktay noted that they had a very comprehensive and strategic meeting with President Aliyev.
Stating that they are trying to fill the alliance relationship in all areas within the framework of the Shusha Declaration, Oktay stated that they also evaluated the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the process carried out for peace, and the developments in Karabakh with Aliyev.
Stating that they also discussed the issue of transportation of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan oil and natural gas to Turkey and Europe via the Caspian, Oktay explained that they evaluated the issues related to expanding the capacity of TANAP and TAP.
Stating that they discussed the project related to the transmission of natural gas from Turkey to Nakhchivan and the transmission of the electricity to be produced in Nakhchivan to Turkey, Oktay said, “We have reached 6.5 billion dollars in economic relations. We will have detailed discussions,” he said.
Underlining that they are also evaluating the issue of the new consulate general to be opened by Turkey in Azerbaijan, Oktay said, “We are brothers with the Azerbaijani people. We saw this in the earthquake, we saw it in Karabakh, we saw it in history, and we will see it in the future. Azerbaijan’s troubles are our problems, our joy is ours.” “The security of Azerbaijan is our security. We, as the Foreign Affairs Commission, want to do our part to contribute to the peace and development of the region. We want to take parliamentary diplomacy further in this sense,” he said.
