In the statement made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, it was announced that the annual meeting in October 2026 was decided to be held in Bangkok, with the votes of the boards of governors of the two institutions.
In the statement, it was noted that the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings were last held in 1991 in Bangkok.
Pointing out that the annual meetings bring together central bankers, finance and development ministers, private sector leaders, non-governmental organizations, media and academics, the meetings will focus on the world economic outlook, global financial stability, poverty eradication, inclusive economic growth and job creation, It was stated that the problems facing the global economy, including climate change and digitalization, were discussed.
In the statement, it was stated that the annual meetings are usually held in the headquarters of the IMF and the World Bank Group in Washington for 2 consecutive years, and in one of the member countries every 3 years.
Pointing out that this year’s meetings will be held in Morocco in October, it was reported that an official signing ceremony will be held for Thailand during the meetings.
