According to the news in the Colombian media, an armed attack was carried out on Gonzalo de Jesus Parra Forero, the leader of the Asomipaz community, in the village of Zulia in the Boyaca administrative region.
Farero died as a result of the attack on his way home. An investigation into the attack has been launched.
The Office of the Ombudsman and the Colombian Institute for Development and Peace Studies (Indepaz) condemned the attack on the social leader.
Indepaz reported that 33 community leaders have been assassinated in the country since the beginning of the year, and that after the peace agreement between the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the state in November 2016, the number of people killed increased to 1442.
