The UK Home Office has made a statement regarding the changes in the visa application for the families of student visa holders.
According to the statement, international students will not be able to bring their dependents to the UK with them unless they participate in postgraduate education, defined as a research programme.
The change will come into effect from January 2024 to allow time for international students to plan ahead.

Interior Suella Braverman, whose views were included in the statement, used the following statements:
“This package strikes the right balance between acting decisively to tackle net immigration and protecting the economic benefits students can bring to the UK. Now is the time to make these changes to make an impact on net migration as soon as possible. We expect this package to have a tangible impact on net migration. Taken together with the mitigation of temporary factors, we expect net migration to decline to pre-COVID-19 levels in the medium term.“
