Pointing out that progress was made in the political and economic relations between Iran and Uzbekistan last year, Reisi emphasized that more efforts should be made to develop economic and commercial relations, given the existing capacities.
President of the Legislative Assembly of Uzbekistan İsmailov stated that the parliaments of the two countries should play an active role in the development of cooperation between the governments, and that the Uzbekistan Assembly will use all its means to implement the agreements between the two countries.
Meeting of Kalibaf with Ismailov
On the other hand, according to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Ismailov also met with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammed Bakir Kalibaf.
The two discussed issues aimed at improving cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan.
Kalibaf said that Tehran wants to improve its relations with Uzbekistan in the fields of economic, trade, transportation, culture, tourism, informatics and communication.
Touching on the transportation potential of Iran and Uzbekistan, Kalibaf stated that the two countries can play a constructive role in the development of the North-South and East-West corridors.
Ismailov also stated that the issue of transportation is the priority of both sides in the development of Tehran-Tashkent relations.
