Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid held a press conference at Baghdad International Airport regarding the return of the said artifacts.
Reşid said that they brought back 6,000 pieces of historical artifacts that were taken to England for scientific studies in 1923, and that this is the second largest return of artifacts to Iraq.
Reşid said, “We hope that the historical artifacts found in England will be of benefit to scientists and researchers in scientific studies, as well as to all humanity.”
Noting that they will continue to work for the return of historical artifacts stolen from Iraq and taken abroad, Reşid thanked the British government for its solidarity in the preservation and return of 6,000 pieces of artifacts brought to the country.
