Man arrested in Germany accused of selling drone parts to Russia

In the statement made by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, it was stated that Waldemar W sold a total of 715 thousand euros to a company producing military equipment and accessories in Russia 26 times between January 2020 and March 2023 through his company in the west of Germany.

In the statement, it was stated that Waldemar W is the general manager of two companies for the international trade of electronic parts, and the parts he sells are used in the “Orlan 10” unmanned aerial vehicle flown by the Russian armed forces in Ukraine.

It was stated in the statement that Waldemar W first imported the electronic parts from abroad to Germany in order to break the embargo, and then transferred these parts to two front companies in Russia.

The statement alleged that later shell companies sent the parts to a Russian military equipment manufacturer, and after the start of the Russia-Ukraine War, Waldemar W started shipping the goods via other countries such as Dubai and Lithuania with the help of fictitious buyers abroad.

The electronic parts in question were covered by the European Union’s sanctions against Moscow for its illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014.
