Left Group deputies in the EP demonstrated in front of the EP building in Brussels, the capital of Belgium.
More than 20 lawmakers, holding placards that read “Stop the police brutality in France”, accused the French police of brutalizing the protesters.
In a statement made by the Left Group in the EP, “The people in France faced police violence while exercising their right to democratic demonstration. Today, EP deputies are giving a message from the parliament against police violence. Violence cannot be an excuse. We cannot tolerate abuse of power.” statement was included.
In France, demonstrations and strikes have been taking place for some time against the controversial pension reform, which includes raising the retirement age from 62 to 64, which the government directly passed without a vote in parliament.
