According to the news in the Mexican press, hundreds of people, mostly Venezuelans, tried to cross the Rio Grande river, which separates the two countries, with makeshift boats and inflatable boats from the Mexican city of Matamoros.

In its statement, the National Institute of Migration (INM) of Mexico reminded that the US authorities will send the immigrants back to their countries if the border is crossed illegally, and demanded that the immigrants make an official application.
It was recorded that the number of immigrants caught trying to cross the US border illegally was 2.76 million people in 2022.
According to data from Mexican authorities, 8.76 million undocumented immigrants are thought to live in the country.
