Mexican police intervened in hundreds of irregular immigrants who wanted to cross into the USA

According to the news in the Mexican press, hundreds of people, mostly Venezuelans, tried to cross the Rio Grande river, which separates the two countries, with makeshift boats and inflatable boats from the Mexican city of Matamoros.

Mexican security forces intervened against irregular migrants who wanted to reach Brownsville, Texas.

Arguing that they have fled the violence, poverty and political instability in their country, the immigrants continue to wait in the border regions to somehow pass to the USA.

In its statement, the National Institute of Migration (INM) of Mexico reminded that the US authorities will send the immigrants back to their countries if the border is crossed illegally, and demanded that the immigrants make an official application.

It was recorded that the number of immigrants caught trying to cross the US border illegally was 2.76 million people in 2022.

According to data from Mexican authorities, 8.76 million undocumented immigrants are thought to live in the country.

Destination USA

Due to problems such as violence, unemployment and poverty in their countries, irregular immigrants who try to reach the USA in order to establish a better life often fall into the hands of human traffickers.

A large number of irregular migrants, who have departed from Central American countries for many years, are trying to reach the USA via Guatemala and Mexico.
