Tunisian National Security Forces Spokesperson Husameddin al-Jababli made a statement about the sinking boat from his social media account.
In his statement, Cebabli said that the boat carrying irregular immigrants capsized off the coast of Sfaks city in the southern part of the country, and that the search and rescue team of the Navy reached the bodies of 15 immigrants.
Cebabli stated that 47 immigrants, including 5 women and 9 children, were rescued.
In Tunisia, where irregular migration attempts increased with the warming of the weather, 10 people died and 76 people were rescued as a result of the sinking of two boats yesterday.
More than 27 thousand immigrants caught in Tunisia in 3 months
Tunisian National Security Forces, in a statement on 7 April, reported that nearly 900 irregular migration attempts were prevented and more than 27 thousand irregular migrants, mostly from Sub-Saharan African countries, were caught in the operations carried out between January 1 and March 31 off the coast of Tunisia.
