According to research by the New York Times (NYT), 21-year-old Teixerira, who is understood to be the leader of an online group, shared information about the US military in this group.
It was stated that the documents leaked to the Internet included information about potential security vulnerabilities in the defense of Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, and the number of UK special forces allegedly active in the country.
It was recorded that Teixeira shared confidential documents with 25 active members from different countries, mostly between the ages of 20-30, in the online group Thug Shaker Central.
According to the report, federal investigators determined that Teixeira had uploaded hundreds of pages of intelligence briefings to the chat group’s platform, starting months ago, and was lecturing its members on the importance of being aware of events in the world.
The leak was first revealed when some members of the group posted parts of the documents on a public online forum.
U.S. President Joe Biden, who previously said he was “concerned” about the leaks that shook the Pentagon, told reporters during his visit to Dublin, “As you know, a full-blown investigation with the intelligence community and the Justice Department is underway and they are nearing the conclusion.” he said.
