North Korea launches test long-range ballistic missile

The South Korean General Staff announced that the long-range ballistic missile was launched from the Sunan region near the capital Pyongyang at 07:10 local time.

The Ministry of Defense of Japan confirmed that the missile, which traveled 1000 kilometers in the air, reached an altitude of 6 thousand kilometers and fell outside the Japanese exclusive economic zone at 08:20 local time.

It was reported that the missile fell 200 kilometers west of Oshima-Oshima island on the west coast of Hokkaido in the north, and there was no damage to the elements underway in the said area.

It was noteworthy that the trial was held on the morning of the summit to be held in Tokyo by the leaders of the US’s allies in East Asia, South Korea and Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio said that after the missile test, Japan will continue to work more closely with its allies for regional peace and stability.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said in a statement after the meeting of the National Security Council that “Pyonyang administration will pay the price for its reckless provocations”.
