According to the news of North Korea’s official news agency, Korea Central News Agency (KCNA), it was stated that sea water flooded an area of 560 hectares, including 270 hectares of rice fields, due to the lack of an effective drainage system in the city of Nampho.
North Korean leader Kim called the prime minister and officials “irresponsible and disobedient” in his speech after visiting nearly 270 hectares of rice fields flooded by floods.
Criticizing North Korean Prime Minister Kim Tok-hun for “being a spectator” to the problems caused by the flooding, Kim noted that the Prime Minister sent one of the deputies to the region and that the deputy only acts as a “fuel provider”.
Kim also stated that a director hid the amount of fuel spent on work in the area.
Claiming that the Kim Tok-hun Cabinet has “deteriorated in economic and administrative discipline in recent years,” Kim said that as a result, “lazy people have ruined the country’s economic affairs with their irresponsible behavior.”
While arguing that the recent floods in North Korea were “man-made”, Kim stressed that the prime minister’s cabinet did not realize that a local company was running an unauthorized drainage project in July.
