According to North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim visited the country’s major weapons factories over the weekend.
Making statements during his visit, Kim ordered that the production of weapons and missiles “substantially increase” and said that it was aimed to start mass production in order to meet the needs of the troops at the front.
Noting that North Korea must have “an overwhelming military force that will absolutely destroy” its enemies, Kim argued that they must be “fully prepared to deal with any war”.
“The qualitative level of war preparations depends on the development of the arms industry, and factories bear a very important responsibility in accelerating these preparations,” Kim said. said.
US-South Korea to hold largest joint exercise in years
South Korea and the United States also announced that they will begin joint military exercises next week to strengthen their common defenses.
According to the statement made by South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the exercise, called “Ulchi Freedom Shield”, will take place on August 21-31.
In the statement, it was stated that the exercise will be the “biggest” in recent years, and accordingly, it was informed that exercises will be held based on scenarios prepared especially for the purpose of precaution against North Korea’s missile threats.
North Korean leader Kim visited important weapons factories at the beginning of the month and gave the message of improving his country’s weapons technology and strengthening its war preparations.
South Korea had argued that behind this visit there were “multiple purposes, such as a response to the planned military exercise between Seoul and Washington, and the intention to export weapons.”
