North Korea’s missile tests discussed at UN Security Council

Greenfield stated that two members of the UNSC think that “it is necessary to remain silent” against North Korea, but this silence does not work. ” said.

Arguing that North Korea, China and Russia have also undermined the US’s dialogue efforts, Greenfield said, “Enough is enough. The US calls on Council members to act in cooperation against the North Korean threat again.” said.

UN Deputy Secretary General Miroslav Jença said, “The trend in the Korean Peninsula is in the wrong direction.”

Jença said that North Korea has increased its missile tests since 2022, and 70 tests include ballistic missile technology.

Pointing out that North Korea also continues its nuclear weapons program, Jença pointed out that the differences of opinion among the international community prevent action.

Anna Evstigneeva, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, stated that multilateral diplomatic talks are the solution, and that the “new blocs” formed by the USA in the Asia-Pacific lead to more separation.
