In Canada, male lawmakers protested in the parliament to draw attention to the increase in violence against women in the country.
Lawmakers walked through parliament wearing pink heels as part of the ‘Hope in High Heels’ event organized by Halton Women’s Place, a women’s shelter in Ontario.
Canadian Transport Minister Omar Alghabra shared the images on his social media account and said, “Violence against women is still common in our society. While Hope in Heels raises awareness about violence against women; An event that encourages men and boys to be a part of the solution. Violence against women comes in all forms, not just physical. “Beginning with me, men need to be aware of the consequences of our actions and words and to open up more space for the women around us.”
