Nearly 3 thousand people gathered with the organization of the group called “Extinction Rebellion” in the Netherlands blocked the way to the parliament.

Demonstrators demanded an end to the use of oil, coal and gas, protesting the government’s fossil fuel policy.

Activists carried banners with the words “Plant trees, stop fossils” and “There is no planet B”. The police warned that the area where the action took place is prohibited for the demonstration.

When the warnings were ignored, the police intervened in the group. The police, who sprayed the demonstrators with water cannon, detained those who did not leave the road.

The police also separated some of the activists who tied themselves to the tree with iron cutting machines. The activist group announced that 683 people were detained.
