Red alert issued before Hurricane Freddy in Mozambique

Government Spokesperson Filimao Suaze announced that the red alert decision was taken to speed up the search and rescue efforts.

On the other hand, it was announced that some settlements in Gaza, where there was a downpour in the south of the country, would be evacuated.

The hurricane, which was effective in Madagascar and caused the death of 4 people, is expected to reach Mozambique on February 24.

Mozambique’s National Institute for Disaster Risk Management and Mitigation (INGD) warned that Hurricane Freddy could affect 70,000 people in the country.

Last year, Hurricane Main hit Madagascar, Malawi and Mozambique, killing dozens and displacing thousands from their homes.
