Republicans in the USA: Crime rates increased in New York because of the Attorney General who sued Trump

A session titled “Victims of Violent Crime in Manhattan” was held in New York by the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee.

The session led by Republican Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, known for his support of former President Donald Trump, argued that violent crime is on the rise in New York due to the “pro-criminal and anti-victim policies” of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who sued Trump. .

The family of a soldier who died in the violence in New York, and a witness who claimed to have been subjected to an antisemitic attack, as well as former local government employees and representatives of non-governmental organizations testified as witnesses and answered questions from lawmakers.

Blaming Attorney General Bragg throughout the session, Jordan argued that the judiciary in Manhattan was politicized. Jordan claimed that instead of enforcing the law, Bragg used his mandate to fulfill “the proposals of fundraisers.”

Jordan claimed that as a result of Bragg’s abuse of power, crime rates such as theft, assaults, auto trafficking, and serious crimes increased in New York.

Democrats: “They are following Trump’s order”

Democrats, such as committee member Congressman Jerrold Nadler, argued that Republicans “followed Trump’s order” in today’s session.

Democrats, who support Bragg, stated that the Attorney General was trying to intimidate, and noted that the Republicans wasted public resources with such sessions to protect Trump.

Democrats urged Republicans to take action to pass laws on gun attacks if they were sincere about violent crime, noting the increasing number of gun attacks in the country.

In the session, where tensions rose from time to time, Jordan requested that two participants be removed from the session because they were disturbing the police.

On the other hand, as the session continued, Bragg’s office shared statistics on Twitter showing that crime rates in New York have decreased since he took office.

Mayor argues New York is safe

New York Mayor Eric Adams supported Bragg by criticizing Jordan’s arrival in New York at the press conference he held before the session began.

Accusing Jordan of “wasting taxpayer dollars”, Adams said New York was one of the safest cities in the United States.

Jordan summoned Bragg’s assistant, former New York Attorney General Mark Pomerantz, to testify about his accusation against Trump.

On April 11, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced that he was suing Jordan in New York District Court, concluding that Trump committed “34 felony offenses related to falsifying business records.”
